So here's the recipe I tried this week and everyone liked it pretty well.
Tilapia and Green Beans-from the food network revised by me
Frozen Tilapia Fillets (I used 12 for a family of 7)
1 TBS of butter for each fillet
Flour
2 Tsp. Oregano for each fillet
Cracked Black pepper
salt
1 pound green beans fresh or frozen (you may need to increase or decrease the amount)
1 cup grape or cherry tomatoes (the amount of tomatoes should equal the amount of green beans)
lemon juice
I'm really sorry I don't usually use very precise measurements, so just wing it.
First, heat a large skillet on high heat
- Meanwhile, mix you flour, oregano, salt, and pepper in a shallow bowl or large plate
- Hope you thought to thaw your fish and green beans
- Drop 4 Tbs. of butter into you skillet, and dredge fish in your flour mixture one or two at a time
- Add two fillets at a time to the skillet cook for about 7 minutes or until bottom is browned
- Flip fillets and heat through another 2 or 3 minutes until reverse side is browned
- Transfer fillets to plate and keep warm-I used the microwave
- Cook two more fillets, each time dredging fillets in flour mixture-you may need to adjust the heat by now-remember it was one TBS of butter for each fillet, so now that you've cooked four fillets add four more TBS of butter.
- Once all fillets are cooked, add thawed green beans to skillet with a TBS of butter-unsalted natural butter, that vegetable spread butter, or butter with oil additives doesn't work so well. (I tried it=( )
- Cook beans about 2 minutes, sprinkle with cracked black pepper, and salt.
- If you have kids or little siblings it's a good idea to have them chopping the beans and tomatoes in half while you cook the fish. If not, I'm sure you'll find a way!
- Now add the tomatoes to the green beans, squirt a little lemon juice in and add 1/4 cup of water.
- Cover and continue to cook for 4 minutes or until veggies are soft.
- Now you can transfer your dishes to nice pretty plates and things and I put fresh cut cantaloupe with mine it was super good. Macaroni salad would probably be good too.
That's it!

ReplyDeleteLOL Sammy, Tilapia is a type of african fish which you can read about here www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/tilapia if your mind is curious enough =D. I really don't like fish, but I read that it is good for allergies so I decided to try it and I loved it! And the fillet is just the meaty part of the fish. I would be honored if you tried it!
ReplyDeleteOH! And the theme is actually processed by blogger, you can get it too! Just go to the design tab on your dashboard and click the 'awesome inc.' picture and it will give you this one as a sub choice.
ReplyDeletei usually like fish :) although this one time we had fish, and it sill had whiskers or something on it :P
ReplyDeletethat's cool! i haven't explored the design tab yet :O
It's weird, I usually don't like fish at all, but I really like tilapia. =D You should explore the design tab!
ReplyDeleteI don't think my comment went through. I think I forgot a step or two. Anyway, we love tilapia. I'll have to try this recipe. The thing I'm not too sure about is putting tomatoes in my green beans.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it's a good combination or not..I don't like tomatoes so I onliy had the beans-they were good-but everyone else liked the tomatoes in it. It's probably because the little tomatoes have a sweet taste and beans sorta do too? I don't know. YOu could try garlic or onions instead though =D
